Residence Permanente - Visa 856 Mode d'emploi (Eng)
The sort of application we will be preparing is known as an Employer Nomination visa, otherwise known as an 856 visa. The process involves two separate stages:
· A nomination (lodged by the Company)
· A visa application (lodged by you)
The Company will have to fill in the paperworks for your nomination. You cannot interfer in this phase of the process and only the Company can lodge the paperworks on your behalf.
This note covers the preparation of the visa application.
Timing
One of the requirements for an Employer Nomination visa is that you have been employed in Australia for at least two years. (It is possible to apply before the 2 year limit is reached, but it is a more complicated application process.) In your case, you will be able to meet this two year requirement . We therefore want to start work with you on preparing your visa application now so that we will be in a position to lodge it in due time.
Application forms
There are about 8 forms in total that need to be completed for your visa:
1 Form 47ES – main application form
2 Form 80 – character clearance form
3 Form 1101 - Australian police clearance
4 Form 26A - medical examination form
5 Form 160A - s-ray form
6 3 x Overseas police clearances
Supporting Documents
In addition to the application forms, we need to provide supporting documentation with your visa application. We cannot re-use the copies we provided with your 457 application because for an 856 application the immigration department wants us to provide certified copies of the documentation. We can make certified copies of your personal documents, but you will need to provide us with the original documents for us to do this. I can set up an appointment for you so that we can make the copies at our office. If you are not in possession of any of the original documents, please let me know.
The supporting documentation we want to include with your visa application will be:
1 a scanned copy of all the pages in your passport (except blank pages)
2 a copy of your resume
3 certified copy(ies) of your passport(s)
4 4 x recent passport photographs
5 certified copies of your qualifications
6 certified copies of your training certificates
7 police clearances (please see below)
8 health clearances (please see below)
Police clearances
It is commonly the case that police clearances that take longest to obtain when we prepare a visa application, so it is often the best place to start when preparing your visa application. We will need to provide clearances for all countries where you have lived for 12 months or longer during the past 10 years. Based on the information from your 457 application, I assume that this will include Australia, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Please let me know if this is correct.
Australia – To obtain an Australian police certificate, you need to complete Form 1101 (attached). Then simply step into a police office and request the certificate. The price to pay is around $36

Health testing
Health testing is done in Melbourne at an organisation called Health Services Australia. Their offices are on Level 4, 501 Swanston Street in the city.
You will require both an x-ray and a full medical examination for your visa application. It is possible to make appointments with Health Services Australia by ringing 9224 8381 between the hours of 8.30am – 5.30pm local time Monday-Friday.
The forms you will require for the medical and x-ray are specified above. You should complete the forms beforehand, but do not sign the forms until you are in the presence of the doctor or radiographer.
The other requirements for the testing can be found at http://www.healthoz.com.au/onlinebooking/immigration/immigration.html. In general these include:
· Bringing along your passport
· Having payment ready.
Payment by credit card is generally the easiest method of payment.
